These Boots

These Boots is an original acrylic painting on a repurposed 17½" x 17½" canvas — a love letter to the boot that means business and knows how to party. A single cowboy boot fills the canvas with bold, unapologetic personality. Its shaft is covered in a rich leopard print — warm tan and brown spots sweeping up to a wide, floppy top that tilts to one side with relaxed Western swagger. A silver star is pinned to the shaft. The vamp and toe are dark brown leather with blue stitching in sweeping decorative curves, and a silver spur adorns the heel. Tucked into the top of the boot, a bright yellow sunflower and a white daisy bloom with cheerful abandon against the print. Around the boot, the scene opens up — sunflowers and white daisies nestle at the base, green leafy sprigs reach outward, and a golden lasso loops loosely through the composition, its coils catching the soft light.
