Paco the Parrot

Paco the Parrot is an original acrylic painting on a repurposed 24" x 30" canvas — a large-scale portrait of a macaw painted with the confidence and looseness of someone who knows exactly when to stop. Paco fills the canvas from left to right, his body angled toward us, his head tilted with the particular sideways alertness of a bird that is always paying attention. His face is bold and graphic — white with strong black markings around the eye and beak, the curved hook of his bill painted in decisive black, one bright dark eye fixed outward with intelligence and presence. The top of his head is a rich cobalt blue. His body is painted in broad, expressive strokes — deep blue dominating the wings and back, with loose passages of red, orange, warm peach, teal, purple, and black tumbling together across his chest and belly in a joyful, almost abstract cascade of colour, as if his plumage contains every tropical shade at once.
