Moroccan Wedding

Moroccan Wedding is an original acrylic and mixed media painting on a repurposed 36" x 24" board — a painting of a moment that belongs only to them. A couple stands before a pair of tall, weathered turquoise shuttered doors set into a whitewashed wall — the kind of doorway found in old Moroccan medinas, sun-bleached and beautiful and full of history. They are kissing. He wears a cream linen suit, his dark hair pulled up in a bun, one hand resting at her waist. She is strapless, her brown hair loosely pinned, her arms reaching up to him. And her dress — her extraordinary dress — is real. Actual fabric, draped and adhered to the canvas in a sweep of soft aqua blue, its silky folds pooling and trailing across the painted stone floor in a long, flowing train. The colour of the dress mirrors the faded turquoise of the shutters behind them, as if she and this place were made for each other.
