Looking Up

Looking Up is an original acrylic painting on an 18" x 24" canvas — a painting that asks you to lie down in the grass and look straight up. The perspective is from below, from the ground, from the heart of a wildflower meadow in full, exuberant bloom. All around the edges, grass blades and flower stems reach upward and inward, framing the open sky above like a living border. Wildflowers tumble into the composition from every direction — orange cosmos, purple and pink blooms, yellow marigolds, white poppies, small red and pink buds — each one painted with loose, joyful confidence. At the centre of it all, the sun bursts through in a radiant white starburst, its rays reaching outward in all directions across a luminous sky of cerulean and cobalt blue scattered with soft white clouds.
