Just Floating

Just Floating is an original acrylic painting on a repurposed 48" x 36" canvas — a large-scale painting of a single, perfect summer moment. The canvas is divided at its midpoint by the waterline: above, a distorted mirror world of rippling reflection — the figure fragmented and wavering, goggles and limbs and bright stripes broken apart by moving water, the surface catching light and colour in loose, shifting shapes. Below, clarity: a young woman floats face-down just beneath the surface, her body suspended in pale aqua water, her long brown hair trailing behind her in a soft dark stream, small bubbles rising around her toward the light. She wears a bold multicoloured striped bikini — red, green, yellow, black, and orange — its ties loose and bright. One arm extends forward, fingers lightly curled, the other resting back along her side. The water around her is luminous and still — pale blue-grey, deepening gently toward the bottom of the canvas, the kind of clear water you can see through and want to stay in. Pure paint, pure water, pure float. A one-of-a-kind original by Branka, created once and never again.
