Just Desserts

Just Desserts is an original acrylic painting on a 16" x 16" canvas — a still life in honour of the very best part of any meal. A towering white layer cake dominates the composition, its smooth sides draped in dramatic rivers of dark chocolate ganache that drip and pool with glossy abundance. On top, a cluster of fresh fruit — a red plum, a blueberry, and bright green leaves — sits with casual elegance, as if placed there by someone who wanted beauty as much as sweetness. Two glossy red cherries on long green stems rest against the base of the cake on its white pedestal stand. Beside it, on a second white cake stand of its own, a glorious jumble of French macarons tumbles in every colour — turquoise, yellow, green, purple, pink, and red — their crisp shells and creamy fillings catching the soft pink light.
