Giraffe & Zebra on Chair is an original acrylic painting on a 12" x 12" canvas — a portrait of two of Africa’s most pattern-perfect animals, reclining together on the most Parisian of settees. A young giraffe folds its long spotted legs and leans its elegant neck to the left, its warm amber and brown patchwork coat filling the left half of the composition with unhurried grace. Beside it, a zebra reclines with bold, graphic confidence — its black and white stripes sharp and graphic against the teal blue velvet upholstery. The settee itself is a Louis XV canaé with an ornate gilded gold frame, its curved cabriole legs and carved apron giving the whole arrangement a theatrical, luxurious air. A small teal cushion is tucked between the two animals. The background is a soft, luminous pearl white; the floor below reflects a pale wash of teal. Pure paint, pure giraffe, pure zebra.
