Empty Chair BW is an original acrylic painting on an 8" x 10" canvas — a room with personality, history, and an excellent eye for contrast. A classic wingback armchair upholstered in bold black and white buffalo check takes its place on the right, a bright yellow accent pillow tucked into its corner like a sunny punctuation mark. Beside it, a mustard yellow painted chest of drawers with gold hardware anchors the left side of the composition, its warm tone echoing the pillow and the small bouquet of sunflowers arranged in a glass vase on top — fresh, cheerful, and perfectly placed. Behind them both, a large vintage-style painted sign reads “J. MURPHY 1851 B. SMITH” over a silhouetted galloping horse in an oval — the kind of weathered, graphic lettering that speaks of trade, tradition, and a room that knows its own story.
